I am going to miss this place despite my 24-7 complaints.
Munich has been kind to me and its a great place to live and i’ll will never forget it.
I went for a free tour cause we were acting all touristy during my last days here and we had fun.
I learnt more stuff about munich
A) Munich is Beer and Beer is Munich.
OCKTOBERFEST- we learnt that normally munich residency no.s around 1.6 million but during this important beer drinking festival,
the number of people in this city rises to 6-7 million.
Munich has had 2 major beer riots in the past.One was due to a price increase and the other was because parliment had passed a bill stating no beer could be sold in restaurants after 9 or 10( cant remember the exact time but it was around there). In the end, the prices of beer was cut to even lower than the original price and the bill was kinda thrown out.
Munich has a law that ensures the beer is PURE, meaning that the beer has consists of four ingredients . Geezz
Munich’s early beginning originated with Monks and its funny cause they would drink lots of beer, as it helped them feel less hungry whenever they had to fast. Laws were passed to limit the amount of beer drunk per day to 3 litres and somehow they could even carry over whatever wasnt drunk that day to the next. my gawd….
Also, a common and impt symbol of Munich would be a Monk holding a Bible (psst, its actually suppose to be a beer mug)
The world’s most famous beer house HOFBRAUHAUS was the location for Hitler’s speech (things werent pretty bumpy for Hitler in the beginning of his revolution) to win and rally over 2000 communists in Bavaria. Apparently, things didnt go according to plan and the communists threw their beer mugs at him.
B) Churches. Munich has tons of these. They are a little dark and spooky to me though…
Also ,the catholics in this country have to give a rather high % of their income to the church too and they dont like it!
C) Around 80% of the tourist attractions in Munich’s Marien platz area are reconstructions. So much was damaged due to the wars….
Its sad cause some of the reconstructions are much simpler and not true representations.
D) MOST APPEALING TO SINGLE FEMALES and this is kinda something i learnt over dinner, not the free tour!

HA… Mas female colleague has some chinese frens who married Germans and they say that they are rather obedient and let them do whatever the hell they want.. above’s a quote from those ladies by the way.
But i do vouch for the german guys. They grocery shop, take their babies everywhere, they dont act like singaporean guys who drool a pool over pretty ladies, they are well trained.
I will miss German men, they are great eye candy.
